How-to: Submit Website to Search Engines

After launching your website, the first step of SEO is submit your website to search engines. Sure that’s a high possibility that web crawlers may index your site automatically, but it’s better to take action manually to assure it happens.

In this article I will show you how to submit website to search engines like Google, Bing and Baidu.

Google

Go to Webmaster Tools – Crawl URL, type in the URL and submit, quick and easy.

You can also submit your site map to Google Webmaster Tools, by doing this you can get more advanced support.

Oh, one more thing, don’t forget the Google Analytics.

Bing

FYI: Yahoo search has been powered by Microsoft’s Bing search engine. When you submit your site to Bing you will also show up in Yahoo’s search results.

Although search engines like Bing and Yahoo have less traffic than Google, but they still have million of users, so it’s still worthy.

To submit, go to Submit your Site to Bing page. You can also submit your site map to Bing Webmaster Tools.

Baidu

Currently, Google is banned in Chinese Mainland, and even before this, Baidu is already the de facto No.1 search engine  in China / in Chinese language. So if your website is in Chinese, you want your website can be viewed by Chinese reader, you can not ignore Baidu.

To submit, go to URL Submit page. Baidu also provide Webmaster Tools,  but the sitemap function is not available to everyone like Google or Bing, it has a “Invitation Standard”.

  2. Hey! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could get
a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours
and I’m having difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!

    1. Thanks for your comment. Glad you asked question.
You can try reCAPTCHA, you may need a Google account (reCAPTCHA is part of Google now, it provides the captcha function), and a plugin like Google Captcha (reCAPTCHA) to connect it to WordPress platform.
